We are thrilled to announce that Doug Albright of Coldwater, Michigan, will be the Market Barrow Judge for the 2025 Hill District Grandstand (HDGS).

Doug Albright brings a wealth of experience and passion to the judging arena. A 2009 graduate of Kansas State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Doug also holds an Associate’s degree from Black Hawk East. His educational background laid a strong foundation for his illustrious career in livestock judging.

Judging Experience

Doug has been a pivotal figure in livestock judging, having been a member of the 2008 Reserve National Champion Livestock Judging Team. His extensive judging experience spans over 37 states, including major events like the San Antonio Livestock Show, State Fair of Texas, OYE, and numerous state fairs. His expertise and a keen eye for quality livestock make him a respected judge in the field.

Doug is driven by a desire to make a positive impact on young exhibitors’ lives. “Judges can have a big impact on a young person’s life, and I always felt the desire to do the same,” he says. For Doug, judging is not just about ranking livestock but also about inspiring and challenging the next generation of agriculture enthusiasts. “It’s also a great personal challenge to sort through incredible livestock and line them up,” he adds.

A Message for Exhibitors

Doug firmly believes in the power of perseverance and hard work. His advice to exhibitors is encapsulated in his favorite quote, “Winners never quit, and quitters never win.” This mindset has undoubtedly contributed to his own success and is a valuable lesson for all participants.

Family and Personal Life

When Doug is not busy with livestock shows, he enjoys spending time with his family. He and his wife Dana are proud parents to their six-year-old son Kaiser and two-year-old daughter Nora. Doug’s hobbies include hunting, golfing, and traveling with Dana. These activities provide a wonderful balance to his professional life, keeping him grounded and inspired.
